St
Botolph’s Scarecrow competition 19 June 2010
What is the competition?
Simply create a scarecrow! There are no specific stipulations,
but the scarecrows will be on display outside so it should be reasonably
waterproof. We will be judging entries from people living within
easy reach of Aspley Guise. If you live further away, you are welcome
to make arrangements for your scarecrow to be on show at St Botolph’s.
Please make enquiries to Brenda Eagles Tel: 01908 582945.
How to take part?
You can register your scarecrow in our competition by completing
this entry form. The fee of £5 will go to St Botolph’s
Church roof appeal fund. You need to make sure your scarecrow is
in your front garden (or other visible place) on Saturday 19 June
between 9 am and 12 noon so that we can photograph it. Our competition
judge, local artist Jill Goodyear, will be reviewing all entries
during this time and the winner will be announced at St Botolph’s
Church Fete that afternoon. The winner will receive a prize and
the winning scarecrow will take pride of place on the cover of our
calendar. Photos of the ‘runners–up’ will feature
through the months of the year.

St Botolph’s Church Fete 2010
Our Summer Fete will take place in the church grounds on Saturday
19 June starting at 2pm. We are delighted that Jill Goodyear will
be at the fete to announce the winner of the Scarecrow Competition
- so make sure you’re there for to hear the news first hand!
There will be the traditional stalls (cakes, tombola, raffle, nearly
new and bric-a-brac, toys, books, garden plants). Collection boxes
will be at the back of the church from 15th May – so have
a spring clean to sort out those unwanted gifts (no electrical items,
thank you). Cakes and plants are welcome nearer the time or on the
day. For more information please contact Brenda Eagles Tel: 01908
